Taiwan Virtual WOC

April 23-26, 2021

Taiwan successfully bid to host the 23rd WOC scheduled for 2020. Due to the COVID pandemic and the subsequent travel and quarantine restrictions, the 23rd WOC was postponed until it was deemed safe to reschedule. In the interim, the Taiwanese opted to host a virtual conference for the world’s orchid enthusiasts. The Virtual WOC was staged on April 23-26, 2021, in the Taichung Waipu Park Area, Taiwan.

Orchidists worldwide could participate virtually in the conference, given the restrictions imposed by COVID. Orchid judges registered to judge the exhibited orchids using an outstanding virtual format. Additionally, ninety-six lecturers from around the world presented sessions broadly representing the broad spectrum of interests of the orchid community. Sessions included:

• Breeding
• Conservation
• Cultivation and physiology
• Ecology, 
• Genetics & development
• Orchid industry
• Systematics
• Project seedling

These sessions were recorded and available to registrants for future listening convenience. The lectures were published in the Proceedings of the 2021 Virtual World Orchid Conference and are available for purchase.
