Planning & Hosting a WOC

The WOCT invites applications from orchid organizations worldwide with the hope of showcasing the diversity within the global orchid community. We understand that the complexity of planning and hosting a World Orchid Conference may appear challenging, so the Trustees have prepared two documents to guide prospective hosts and organizers to host a successful WOC. These documents are available for download below.

Applications to host the 24th WOC in 2026 are now invited and should be sent to the President of the Trust.

Selection Procedure

The WOC Site Selection Committee composed of six (6) Trustees and six (6) Fellows of the WOC, will review all the proposals received and host the formal presentations at the forthcoming WOC.

From the bids received, three (3) to five (5) of those considered the most promising will be invited to formally present their application to the Committee. The Committee will recommend two choices as suitable Provisional Hosts from these applications. Site visits may be required to determine if a bid is viable.

If two bids are provisionally selected, the first bid received will be considered the primary Provisional Host. Should the primary selection sustain unforeseen difficulties, the secondary selection will assume the primary position.

The bids must be submitted to the Board of Trustees six (6) years before the WOC they propose to host. Cities and/or countries cannot initiate a bid to host a WOC; only an orchid organization may submit a bid. The vote to accept a Provisional Host, pass a Provisional Host, elevate a second Provisional Host, and elevate a Provisional Host to Host rests with the Trustees of the WOCT.
